Uwem Akpan: Say You're One of Them (Oprah's Book Club)
Another good book from the library that came in this week. I guess I have a lot of reading to do between Christmas and New Years! O to be on a beach doing so would be nice! Maybe next year!
Pete Dexter: Spooner
Another book that is on a lot of Best of 2009 Books-I hope it is good!
Jeannette Walls: Half Broke Horses: A True-Life Novel
I really enjoyed her other book The Glass Castle, hoping this will be as good
Steve Harvey: Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man: What Men Really Think About Love, Relationships, Intimacy, and Commitment
This was on the NY Times bestseller list-so I thought I would glance thru it.
Erin Bried: How to Sew a Button: And Other Nifty Things Your Grandmother Knew
Wendy gave this to me. Maybe because I asked her to sew on a missing button on my winter jacket?
Donna Fenn: Upstarts!: How GenY Entrepreneurs are Rocking the World of Business and 8 Ways You Can Profit from Their Success
Next Business Book Club pick. Discussion mid-January
Larry Bird: When the Game Was Ours
I love basketball--even with all the news of refs making bogus calls.
Gary Chapman: The Five Love Languages Gift Edition: How to Express Heartfelt Commitment to Your Mate
Richard Russo: That Old Cape Magic
just starting now!
Sarah Hall: How to Paint a Dead Man
Nina from www.readallday.org put this on her list of books she recommends
Ron Hall: Same Kind of Different As Me: A Modern-Day Slave, an International Art Dealer, and the Unlikely Woman Who Bound Them Together
Similar to The Soloist
Elizabeth (Author); Strout: Olive Kitteridge (Later Printing Edition)
Loved this book. Couldn't put it down, I wanted to read all of the different stories.
Haruki Murakami: What I Talk About When I Talk About Running (Vintage International)
In honor of the New York City Marathon, which is happening this Sunday, November 1st, I picked up this book. I want to be inspired to run more!
W. Chan Kim: Blue Ocean Strategy: How to Create Uncontested Market Space and Make Competition Irrelevant
Business Book Club Choice. Conversation Provoking thoughts here about innovation. I don't necessarily agree that creating a new marketplace is the way to go but I am open to the concept.
Lorrie Moore: A Gate at the Stairs
Just started this and I like it. Already appreciating some of her lines like this one that I laughed out loud in agreement about:
"OK," I said, not knowing what else to say. "Sounds good". It was the midwestern girl's reply to everything.
William Bridges: Transitions: Making Sense of Life's Changes, Revised 25th Anniversary Edition
A fellow In Good Company member recommended I read this book. Fast read about the inherent discomfort of change.
Amitav Ghosh: The Hungry Tide: A Novel
Good Read. Exotic setting in these little islands off the coast of India. A scientist is attracted to an illiterate fisherman because of his expertise with the ocean and the dolphins she studies. Ghosh's other book The Glass Palace is supposed to be good too.
Joyce Schwarz: The Vision Board: The Secret to an Extraordinary Life
One of my new products is a Vision Board Starter Kit--so I wanted to read up on how the "Experts" are advising others on making Vision Boards.
